Photostock 2008!

Well, another Photostock has come and gone and I am happy to report that this year's gathering was the biggest and best yet. Throughout the 5 days of the event, we had over 40 people stop by! What a GREAT crowd it was! And the presentations this year were top of the line. Thanks to Bob Carnie, Cynthia Motzenbecker and Jamie Young for sharing your knowledge, work and collections. It wouldn't have been the same without you.

And thanks to everyone that gave a hand in organizing side trips, shooting excursions and feed fests. I think we ate our way through just about every restaurant in a 10 mile radius! I have since been back to the Moose Jaw, The Legs and the Crows Nest and all have been very thankful for everyone's business. And thanks to all of you for being so conscientious and respectful of property when out shooting. I've now heard many good reports of photographers with big tripods and dark cloths from Harbor Springs to Mackinaw City. We were noticed in the area big time.

Speaking of next year, we are planning to expand the event even further with a week of different  workshops to choose from leading up to the final gathering weekend. We hope to bring a few  well-respected people in the field to the area to help out with various processes, demonstrations and presentations over the course of that week. So, stay tuned for more. If not already on the Workshops list, you can get on it HERE. There will be more discussion and announcements of these events through that list. Thanks again to everyone that came! To those that didn't make it, we'd love to have you and you are more than welcome to come join us next year.

For a Short Time Only!

First Tier Collection
plus bonus print!

Due to the first offering of its kind being such a success several moths ago, I've decided to go ahead with another "First Tier Collection" offering this month.

As many of you know, the prints I sell through shows and galleries are hand printed on silver gelatin paper in editions of only 25 and priced on a sliding tier structure. The entry level price is set at $700.00 and rises once the first 5 photographs in the edition sell out.. Very often there are prints that sell out of this first tier quite quickly, and with these offers, I would like to give that chance on selected prints to those that have been kind enough to follow my work online.

Like the first offer, I am again making available 3 different photographs from which to choose, all of which have become favored photographs of mine. Included in this offer is "Clouds - Horizon, Two Harbors, Minnesota, 2008" pictured above as well as 2 others from my recent work. One of these, "Pier Ruin, Cross Village, Michigan 2006" has already had a great deal of attention having been published several times as well as included in 2 recent corporate installations. I am only just now releasing it as one of my editioned silver gelatin prints. The other "Tree - Skyline, Belle Isle, Detroit 2008" is currently part of a traveling exhibit entitled "".

As with all of my editioned silver prints, they come printed in an image size of 8 x 8 inches mounted to 16 x 20 inches. All prints come, signed, numbered, finish mounted and ready to frame.

As an added bonus, each person ordering a print will receive a copy of this months small palladium print, "Monterey Light, 2000".  This offer will close this Wednesday, July 30th at midnight, EST - or at such time as the prints sell-out. All are sold on a first come basis.

Monthly Print Offer

With all the steamy summer nights we've been having lately, I decided to dig back to a memorable photograph I made on a steamy night 8 years ago in California for this months offer. In fact, it is a photograph that has become one of the more well known I've done as well as an all time favorite of mine. This is the first time I've printed "Monterey Light, 2000" in palladium and it is truly a spectacular print for the process.

Like all other monthly print offers, this intimate sized palladium version of this print is not editioned and will ship to you as shown in an unmounted state. Suggestions for mounting and framing will be included with your print. It will be shipped to you  via USPS Priority Mail in the US and should be with you within 4 business days of shipping. International orders go via USPS International and take up to 10 business days for delivery.

Also... if you are ordering one of the first tier collection prints mentioned above, "Monterey Light"  will be included with your order as a thank you.

Thank you! I hope you'll enjoy!

Shout Out

Vinny Walsh -
"Lake Effect"
August 2 - 12, 2008
Cross Village, Michigan
Opening Reception for the Artist
August 2, 2-7 PM

http://www.vinnywalsh.com/

I'm proud to give a shout out this month to Vinny Walsh, a wonderful photographer and actual native of my adopted home near Cross Village. Now a California resident working in the film industry while pursuing his personal work, it took the internet to make our paths cross even though I spent many summers on the same beaches where he grew up. Who knows how many times our paths may have crossed in the past? In any event, I am happy they did and I had the chance to meet and spend time with Vinny recently on a trip home that he made. He's a great guy and hope you'll give his work a look.

Vinny is having a show in our tiny Cross Village at the Three Pines Studio and Gallery, a sweet little gallery where I too had a show last year. If in the area, be sure to check it out. You won't be disappointed. And if you find yourself there for the opening reception, all the better! Vinny will be there and I wouldn't miss it. I'd look forward to meeting you there!

Three Pines Studio and Gallery

You can also see Vinny's work in the show "Emerging Landscapes" now showing until the end of the month in the Topanga Canyon Gallery in Topanga, California.
