Happy New Year!

by Bill· December 31, 2013· in Uncategorized· 0 comments
This has been an incredible year. From the Kickstarter campaign that started early in February, through the building of the Photostock Workshop, and all the way through a fantastic Holiday Season, it has been a year like no other before. It has been a crazy, super charged and highly busy 12 months and I can’t thank you enough for being there through it all. Your support and interest in my work is most appreciated and has meant more to me this year than ever. I want to thank you once again as we look ahead to another year full of possibilities and assure you that there is much more to come. Here’s wishing you and yours a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year! All the Best, Bill Schwab

Free Book for the Holidays!!

by Bill· December 09, 2013· in Uncategorized· 0 comments
Free Book Offer Now Closed… Thought I’d have some fun and spread a little holiday cheer by offering a free copy of my book, “Gathering Calm” to anyone buying a print in the Store this week. I’ll also be adding some new prints as well, so I hope you’ll have a look. It’s a great way to add to that special gift for the holiday. This is the second edition of Gathering Calm of which there are only 500 copies. The book is beautifully printed by the good people at the now defunct, Stinehour Press in Vermont. It is cloth covered and case bound containing 48 pages and 41 beautifully reproduced, tritone plates. Your signed book will automatically be added to your order and if placed before Thursday, December 19th, it will be in your hands for the holiday if you live in the contiguous 48 states. Thanks for checking out the Store! Bill .

Special Print Offer!

by Bill· November 21, 2013· in Uncategorized· 0 comments
**THIS OFFER HAS NOW ENDED** To celebrate the launch of the new Website, for a limited time you can get one of my original, hand made,  silver gelatin prints for only $75! A substantial savings off the usual price of $125 for similar, open edition prints. This one, “Levering Road – State of Bliss, 2013” is a favorite new print of mine chosen for the front page of the website for the new launch. It is also the first photograph to be released from a new project I am working on in Northern Michigan. From now through Monday, December 2nd, this print will be available at this price. After that, it will return to the regular, open edition price of $125. If you’ve been interested in getting one of these small, original prints, now is the time! As with all offers I make of these smaller prints, this is an open edition printing and comes unmatted and unframed as shown. With an image size of 4.25 inches square on an 8×10 inch sheet of paper. this hand made, silver gelatin print has a beautiful sepia/selenium split-tone. Suggestions for mounting and framing will be included with your print and, as always, […]

We Have Water and Septic!

by Bill· November 20, 2013· in Uncategorized· 0 comments
Just a quick entry to pass along the great news that the dedicated septic system and water lines for the workshop building have been installed! This puts us even further toward completion of the facility and far ahead of where I honestly expected we would be at this time. Of course, the dreamer in me had a full working darkroom by this winter, but the realist figured it would be at least spring before the tank and lines could be financed and installed. This puts us well on track for having the darkroom ready for the first workshop in May of 2014. This will be for the wet plate collodion process and if interested, you can find more information in the North Light Photographic Workshops site at the following link. It would be great to have you there! North Light Photographic Workshops

Another I dug up for my talk at Crooked Tree on th Another I dug up for my talk at Crooked Tree on the 18th...
I've got a history with Patti Smith that started with this show at Masonic Temple Auditorium, Detroit in June of 1978 when I was 18 years old. A huge fan from the start, this was not only my first time seeing her perform, but what also became what I felt were my first good performance photos of an artist. My ticket was in the balcony, but suddenly she announced how she hated empty orchestra pits due to an earlier fall and that anyone who wanted could jump in and fill it up. I think I literally sprinted down and took my spot for an amazing show that I was fortunate enough to have my camera along for the ride. Thirteen years later, Patti would be my first assignment for Rolling Stone Magazine and the story continues. #pattismithgroup #billschwab #pattismith
I've been asked to do a presentation on my music r I've been asked to do a presentation on my music related photographs and experiences on June 18th at the Crooked Tree Arts Center in Petoskey, Michigan and I've been going through boxes of transparencies and negatives from those years. Oh... the memories. Here's a really random one... I thought it would be fun to photograph the Beastie Boys and The Goats having an afternoon tea at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham, Michigan. This is from 1994. #beastieboys #thegoats
